Episode 13: What Does It Take To Be A Godly Wife?
Let’s GO!
Welcome to the Soul Family Show & Podcast! I’m your host Sinikka & and this week we’re talking about exactly how the Soul Family is going to be walking into the next decade with intentionally choosing each other!
I can’t be the only one who had the feeling after first marrying that I didn’t know exactly what it looked like to be a godly wife. I also can’t be the only one who wished she had a community of sisters or even just a mentor who could show me what it looked and help me understand what I should be aiming for.
I can’t be the only one because you’ve been telling me you’ve been feeling that way too in your first years of marriage, sis, SO to help – I am happy to announce the Soul Family Marriage Mentorship Program is officially open, because sisters, I know what that feels like and I want to give you the tools, resources, and sisters to walk alongside you in this marital journey.
What is it?
Marriage Mentorship Program is a 3-month study starting January 6! Each month I will be going LIVE in our Program’s Facebook community and provide you with a workbook to dive into three characteristics of a godly wife.
In that workbook, you’ll have a reflection from me, questions for you to prompt journaling time, date night ideas, a recipe to make with you and your husband, a product discount, and the info on who the guest speaker will be on a special Podcast for you that month, sis!
In addition to ALL of this, we’re going to have a once a month in-person event where you can get together with our Soul Family community!
I am so excited to help encourage you to start off this decade off with intentionality in your marriage, and I can’t wait to get started.
Are you ready for 3 months of learning how to say Forever, I Choose You? If so, hop over to the Soul Creation’s shop to join our community for $12/month or $30/pay in full during this Christmas week only before the price goes up! 🙂
As a bonus and guide to help you through this Christmas season, if you join this week (by Saturday at 11:59pm), I’ll send ya the How To Date Over Christmas Break Guide.
Now that we know what this is, here’s why I’m doing this:
When I first got married, all I had as an example was my Mama, who had shown that a godly wife went about her work with busy hands and a pure heart. While I had a great example of a wonderful wife, I don’t know the story of how she became that way.
I can’t tell you the hills and valleys she journeyed in order to get to that destination.
After realizing that there was little help to be had in the arena of becoming a godly wife, I decided to take a look myself.
Let’s be honest, it’s hard to truly embody what it means to be a godly wife, but especially hard when you don’t even know exactly what it looks like.
So the next three months, I’ll be here with you walking through the characteristics of a godly wife that I have learned from almost 5 years of experience.
I also know I have so much more to learn, so I have decided to pull in some incredible women of God who can help us both grow in our marriage relationship even more., because we can’t do it by ourselves, sisters, we weren’t made to do this by ourself. Us gals who have gone before are here extending a helping hand, because we know what it’s like in Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, and beyond.
And because you’re here, I want to read you a bit of gold that’s going to be coming these girls way – because this show? This is for you, sis, and I want you to walk away knowing a bit more right now about how you can be a godly wife and also know exactly what type of goodness you will be receiving from The Marriage Mentorship Program 🙂
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’” Proverbs 31:29-30 NIV
WOW. WOW, ya’ll. Her husband thinks EVERYTHING of her. Let’s break these down to help build ourselves up as a woman who has THIS said about us by the person that means the most to us in the world.
Noble (Adj):
-
Definition – behaving in an honest and brave way that other people admire, a noble action is one that you do to help other people, rather than for yourself. This word often shows that you don’t think something is noble at all
-
Synonyms – Brave and willing to take risks
Sis, when was the last time you took a big risk for others? When was the last time that you helped others, rather than yourself? When was the last time that you were truly brave?
A brave decision, action, or choice is one that you make even though it involves risk and may cause problems for you. A brave decision is changing jobs because it’s impacting your home life when you’re not sure you’ll like the next job as much. A brave decision is choosing to give birth to a new life when you’re not sure if there will be complications for yourself. A brave decision is moving to a new city to follow your husband’s career even when you’re not sure what it means for you.
Sis, you are called to be brave and to walk into the future “laughing at the days to come” (Proverbs 31:25 NIV), you need to have confidence, which is why we are focusing on confidence as our godly wife characteristic this month.
And there it is, girls! I am SO excited that we’ll be talking about confidence during Month 1 of the Program, and I hope to see you in it. Whether or not I do, there’s a few questions I want you to consider as you end this incredible decade and year.
Reflection Questions:
-
In 2020 or even during just the first month of the year, how do you plan to grow in your vocation, your role as a godly wife?
-
This Christmas break, when will you and your spouse have a moment to connect? A coffee break, a brunch date?
Get your date time on the calendar, girls, and get your plan of action in order for how you will learn to grow as a godly wife.
Friend, you’ve got this. Get out there and hug the person you chose to be with forever. Hope you have an amazing week!
