Me too, sis, which is exactly why I’m SO excited that our podcast with Kristen McGaughey is officially released, and it is SO good. Episode 14: The 3 Declarations of A Confident Godly Wife
Let’s GO!
If there’s one thing I know, it’s that Kristen is the woman of bold faith that I want to be 10 years from now. Add 5 total kids to that solid rock foundation like her and her husband have, and we’d be golden.
I’m pleased to give you footnotes of our talk, but ya’ll, you absolutely need to listen to the magic that occurred during our talk. From the footsteps and babbling of little John David (my 16-month-old) to the adorable voice of Theo (Kristen’s 4 year old), among the barks of their dog, Murphy, this content is just pure truth.
HAVE JESUS’ STANDARD, NOT JORDAN’S STANDARD
Whether or not your husband is acting like Jesus, it doesn’t justify you not acting like Jesus. We are to take every thought captive, and that includes every thought or tone or attitude towards our spouse. Our standard is Jesus, not what our spouse’s standard for the moment is.
YOU ARE ON THE SAME TEAM.
Whatever weather your marriage may storm through, you are on the same team. If you’re bickering, remind each other of that – stop the chaos and create calm because the Enemy comes to destroy the union you have, but Christ comes with the peace that passes understanding. Stand in that peace, sis, and remind yourself and your beloved that you are united – and on the same team.
SUBMISSION MEANS SUPPORTING HIS FAMILY HEADSHIP.
This is especially true if you and your spouse are between a rock and a hard place, and especially even when your husband is not treating you or your children like Christ treats His Church – with love, admiration, and tender care. Kristen brought out the best scripture for us to be reminded of – “In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands. Then, even if some refuse to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words.” 1 Peter 3:1.
Want to dive in more? Read 1 Peter 2 and know exactly what “In the same way” refers to…for the Sparknotes version – it’s how slaves regard their masters and Christ regarded those who crucified him, sis.
Let’s just say, we’re definitely having Kristen come on again because there is no way that’s all the wisdom she’s got for us.
Got a question for her? Comment here or bring it to our monthly meet-up on Sunday, because she’ll be there too, gals!
